Suggested Tipping
- Tour escort (Coordinator; may or may not act as a guide): $6 or $7 per person per day
- Driver (Provides chauffeur services and limited assistance with luggage) : $3 per person per day
- Local Guide (Offers in-depth information at specific locations. There may be one or many guides along a tour program): $2 per person per half day of sightseeing.
- Private car tours: $12 to $16 per person per day for each day of sightseeing.
Hotel Tipping
- Porter: $1.00 per bag per person.
- Wait staff: $1.50 per person (lunch or dinner).
- Chamber maid: $1.00 per person per day.
Sea Cruise Tipping
- Louis Hellenic approx $9 per person per day added automatically to the shipboard account.
- Costa Cruises: Costa adds $8.50 per person per day for Caribbean Cruises and $7.50 per person per day for all other cruises to your shipboard account. If services fails to meet or exceed expectations, you are free to adjust daily amounts. A 15% gratuity will be added for all bar purchases or wine purchased at dinner.
- Galapagos Islands: $8-9 per person per day.
- Holland America: Holland America adds $10 per day per person to shipboard account. If service fails to meet or exceeds expectations, you are free to adjust daily amounts. A 15% gratuity will be added for all bar purchases or wine purchased at dinner.
River Cruise Tipping
- Crew $16 per person per day (approximately 10 euros); Cruise Director: $6 or $7 per person per day
- China / Egypt: $5 to $7 per person per day.
Tips are shared by the ship's crew, with the exception of the cruise manager, local guides, bus drivers and others who may have provided special services. Tips may be left in the tip box at the front desk at the conclusion of the cruise.
